Supporting Music Education in Adirondack classrooms - Spring 2024 program to be announced soon!

The Lake Placid Sinfonietta has a strong commitment to music education. Since 2002, the Lake Placid Sinfonietta's Education Committee has worked to bring professional musicians and conservatory students from the Eastman School of Music and Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam to local classrooms. The musicians participating in these programs have visited elementary music classes participated in all levels of band lessons, and rehearsals and presented performances for the entire student body. Due to Covid, the 2021 program went virtual, and the Lake Placid Sinfonietta created short, informative videos that are being used in several Adirondack classrooms. The Glenn and Carol Pearsall Adirondack Foundation has been an important sponsor of this year's and past educational initiatives.

Bringing professional and conservatory level musicians to local classrooms, gives our Adirondack students a musical experience similar to what is available to students in cities that have access to year-round professional orchestra. In past years, the following schools have benefitted from the education program include the following:

  • Lake Placid Elementary School
  • Lake Placid Middle-High School
  • Northwood School
  • St. Agnes School
  • North Country School
  • Saranac Lake Central School
  • Tupper Lake Central School
  • Westport Central School
  • Johnsburg Central School
  • Keene Central School
