Northern Lights Choir is directed by Helen Demong with singers from northern Adirondack region. The choir was formed in 2013 to premier composer Glenn McClure's work, "Voices of Timbuctoo: Abolition Oratorio.

Helen Demong is the founding Artistic Director and Choral Conductor of the Northern Lights Choir. Ms. Demong graduated from the Crane School of Music. She has brought music to the lives of countless students and families in Saranac Lake as Music Educator and Choir Director.   For 35 years, she served as Choral Director for Saranac Lake High School Concert Choir, Men’s Ensemble and Women’s Ensemble. These groups performed at our nation’s Capital in Washington DC, the National Gallery in Ottawa, and traveled to Siena, Italy to perform and premiere an original work by Glenn McClure. 

Ms. Demong has been invited to present for the NYSSMA Winter Conference, presently serves as a NYSSMA certified All State Voice Adjudicator, and is a much sought-after guest conductor for Honors Choirs across New York State.    In June of 2011, Helen Demong was one of fifty music educators selected from across the United States because of their distinguished career in teaching music to attend the Yale Music Symposium and be awarded the Distinguished Music Educator Award.
Her professional philosophy has been to be a teacher and music has been her vehicle.
