Matthew Lengas - Oboe

Oboist Matt Lengas recently earned a Master of Music degree in Oboe Performance from Rice University's Shepherd School of Music, where he studied with Robert Atherholt. Prior to his time at Rice, Matt completed a Bachelor of Music degree in Oboe Performance at the Eastman School of Music. While at Eastman, he studied with Richard Killmer and pursued Baroque oboe studies with oboist and historian Geoffrey Burgess.  A member of the Green Bay  Symphony Orchestra since 2006 and an alumnus of the Green Bay Symphony Youth Orchestra Program, Matt is also a member of the Amarillo Symphony and has performed with the San Antonio Symphony and the Louisiana Philharmonic. In 2010, Matt was awarded Third Prize in the International Double Reed Society Young Artist Oboe Competition. Growing up in Peshtigo, Wisconsin, he studied privately for 5 years with Green Bay Symphony Principal Oboist Andrea Gross Hixon. Matt now maintains a private teaching studio and freelances in Houston, Texas.
