Liviu Onofrei - Violin

Liviu Onofrei, born and raised in Romania of musical parents, started to play the violin at age 4. He was educated at the Music High School in Iasi, Romania, and the Music University in Bucharest, Romania. He was Concert Master for more than 25 years for the Bacau Romanian Symphony Orchestra and has received numerous awards including The Presidential Award for an Extraordinary Person fo the Arts from the President for Romania. He has enjoyed extensive travel on solo and concert tours throughout Europ, the USA and Canada. In 2008 Liviu emigrated to the USA and Orlando, Florida where he lives with his wife Mary. He enjoys being Concert Master with The Gainesville Symphony, and The Villages Symphony, Assistant Concert Master with The Charlotte Symphony and plays with The Orlando Philharmonic, The Alabama Symphony, The Charleston Symphony, The Brevard Symphony, and Walt Disney World.

Recently, Liviu was Guest Concert Master with The Ocala Symphony playing Rimsky Korsakov Scheherazade, and Liviu was honored to be the Concert Master for the 30 day Italian Philharmonic 2017 Chinese New Year Tour throughout China. He has also recently appeared playing Brahms and Mendelssohn Violin Concertos the Bach, Double Violin Concerto, The Schubert Trout Quintet and the Brahms Piano Quintet.

Liviu's Romanian Symphony honored him for his 65th birthday with a concert featuring him playing Brahms Violin concert and the Bach Double Violin Concerto with his son Andrei. The Grandchildren, teaching, and traveling are Liviu's passion and hobbies that keep him very busy. Liviu is honored and delighted to be back playing with the Lake Placid Chamber Orchestra.
