Leigh Barrett - Narrator

 

Though her degree from Baldwin Wallace College is in Voice Performance with an emphasis in Opera, Leigh Barrett has found her true home on the musical theater stages of the Northeast.

Her favorite roles include: Rose in Gypsy, Little Edie in Grey Gardens and Florence Foster Jenkins in Souvenir.

Leigh is perhaps best known for her Sondheim interpretations including: Passion (Fosca), Sweeney Todd (Beggar Woman), Sunday in the Park with George (Frieda), A Little Night Music (Charlotte), Into the Woods (Baker’s Wife), Follies (Sally) Putting It Together, Marry Me A little, Company (JoAnne), Side by Side by Sondheim and Sondheim On Sondheim. 

Ed Siegel of The Boston Globe wrote "Leigh Barrett always finds the emotional center of a song and the result for the audience is never anything less than exhilarating." 

Also an accomplished director, Ms Barrett recently directed The Last Five Years for The Lyric Stage Company of Boston and will direct Sister Act in the Lyric's 2022/23 season.

She is the proud recipient of the 2018 Elliot Norton Prize for Sustained Excellence as well as the 2018 Norton Award for Outstanding Actress in Gypsy and Souvenir. She has also received the Elliot Norton Award for 2004 and 2008 as well as two Independent Reviewers of New England awards for outstanding actor.

A dedicated advocate of the overall well-being of the singer-actor, she is currently pursuing post graduate work in emotional regulation for the singer/actor, as well as Meisner technique in music for singers.
