Kimberly Weems - Soprano

Kimberly Weems, soprano will be a featured soloist on July 10, 2016 in an aria from the Faure "Requiem".

Kimberly Weems, soprano, hails from New Orleans, Louisiana.  She has lived and worked in the Adirondacks since 1986.  She currently serves as the Choral Director and Director of Music Theatre at Lake Placid High School.  Her students consistently earn top awards at New York State School Music Association festivals, and have performed at Walt Disney World, The Cathedral of St. John the Divine, the United Nations, and in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. 

As a vocal soloist, Kim has recently performed Handel’s Messiah with the Champlain Valley Voices, Faure’s Requiem and the Adirondack Folk Opera with the Northern Lights Choir, and Mozart’s Requiem with the Saranac Lake High School Concert Choir.  She is a regular performer and musical director in local professional and community theatre.  Recent productions include Tintypes at Pendragon Theatre,The Little Mermaid with Community Theatre Players and Xanadu at Lake Placid High School. She serves as organist at the Island Chapel on Upper Saranac Lake. 

Kim holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of New Orleans and Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri. She and her husband Tom Dodd reside in Saranac Lake with their daughter Caroline who is a sophomore at Cornell University.
