Michael Nicholson - Violin

Michael Nicholson began his love affair with music and the violin at the age of thirteen in Bartlesville and Tulsa, Oklahoma.  As a student at North Carolina School of the Arts his professional career began, performing with orchestras in Greensboro, Winson-Salem, Charlotte and Myrtle Beach.  As an orchestral and chamber musician, Michael has enjoyed performances throughout the United States and Italy.  Following serving as Assistant Principal Second Violin in the Tulsa Philharmonic, Michael freelanced in Southern California where he performed with Santa Barbara Symphony, New West Symphony, Long Beach Symphony, Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra, served as Principal Second Violin with Mozart Classical Chamber Orchestra, and was a recording artist for many major studios including projects with The Bangles and Vitamin String Quartet as well as work for film, television and commercials.  He enjoyed working in the rock industry performing with bands in clubs and bars on the Sunset Strip and throughout Hollywood.  Michael returned to Tulsa in 2007 and is a founding member of the Tulsa Rock Quartet.  He also performs as Principal Second Violin for Tulsa Symphony, Associate Principal Second Violin for Tulsa Opera and plays with the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas.   He has participated in many festivals including Chamber Music Amarillo, Quartz Mountain Music Festival, Eastern Music Festival and the Spoleto Festival in Italy.  Always up for traveling the world, Michael has made his home in downtown Tulsa with his partner and their two yorkies, Martini and Winston.
